Mary Eileen McDonnell born 28 April 1952 is an American stage, film and television actress. Most famously, she is known for her role as the protagonist of Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves. Other noteworthy parts include the President Laura Roslin from Battlestar Galactica and also the President's wife of Independence Day and Donnie's mother in Donnie's Darko.
